1. GEOGRAPHIC AREA

The story concerning the origin of the vine, that is of the species Vitis Vinifera Sativa, a hermaphrodite plant presumably originally from the area of Asia Minor. Specifically, the areas of the Caucasus, Syria and Anatolia, northwest of Mesopotamia. Over the centuries I travel to Greece, Rome, France and Iberia but the details can never be discovered more specifically. However, we know that it was the Phoenicians who made the movements that made it so widespread among the Egyptians, who depict it together with the harvest in reliefs and tomb paintings. We also know that the amphorae containing the wine and also the corks themselves were sealed and bore the name of the owner and the type of content. In Genesis it is also reported that Noah at the end of the Flood, arrived on Mount Ararat and planted a vine there!

2. THE ORIGIN OF THE VITE: THE FINDINGS

Archaeological finds, of some grape seeds, show that the wild subspecies of the vine preceded the domestic one, which appeared in the Bronze Age. The first documents that can reveal the origin of the vine are written both in Aramaic (Qutama IV century BC) and in Latin (Pliny, Columella, Cato).
